Topography Studies

Topography is the representation of an area’s physical features using line. Its origins stem from the Greek words topos, meaning place, and graphia, meaning image. Fluctuations in line weight, their curves, and the distance between them shows height, depth, features, and shapes. Just as moments, memories, and places have ebbs and flows, so does topography. At first glance, the manipulation of these visuals produces a unique impression on each viewer. The meditative quality of the lines, both visually and mentally in the process, evoke a personal and general representation of human experience.
